Photo Gallery: Infrared Dreamfields

The State of Baden-Württemberg's horticultural show of 2002 in Ostfildern (near Stuttgart), South Germany beared the title "Dreamfields" ("Traumfelder"). During a visit, I used an infrared film (see also the note). Additionally, there are infrared pictures of the island of Madeira which is a dream island for some people.

 In a stone garden that was made of rough gravel, column-like and Opuntia cacti were planted.

 When I was hiking along the water canal "Levada de Ribeira da Janela" in Madeira's interior, I came across a viewpoint where I could see over mountain slopes rich in vegetation. All the living trees and shrubs appear bright red.
|
 From a viewpoint just below the lighthouse in Ponta do Pargo in Madeira's extreme west, there is a unique view over the southwest coast. Where the rocks are covered with living plants, they appear in a bright red color.

 From a Levada (water canal), I saw a part of a mountain village that lies on a narrow ridge that falls steeply into the valley. The evening sun fell on the houses while the slope on the opposite is already almost covered in shadow (upper border of picture).
